ALL – FEMALE RECRUIT TRAINING KICK-STARTS...
The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has on Monday 11 March 2019 commenced the training of the Direct Entry Commissioning Course (DECC) and the Direct Entry Recruit Course (DERC) for Sierra Leonean females nationwide.
The training which comprise of three hundred and thirty two (332) female from across the country is conducted at the Armed Forces Training Center (AFTC) Benguema Barracks, Waterloo..
Sixty two (62) of these females are in for the DECC program, twenty (20) of whom are specialists from various disciplines and forty two (42) Infantries. The DERC program consists of two hundred and seventy (270) females, one hundred and ninety nine (199) of which are Infantries and seventy one (71) of them with various skill trades.
The training which officially commenced on Monday 11 March 2019 was declared opened by the Commandant of the AFTC Brigadier General Fefegula, who admonished the trainees to be steadfast and committed, as the training is both physically and mentally challenging.
A pre-exercise (Introduction to Barrack) was conducted on Monday morning prior to the official declaration by the Commandant AFTC. Week One (1) which is considered to be a week of administration has seen the trainees well prepared for the tasks ahead of them, with exercises like Drill (Parade) and basic physical tests.
